Situated 32 Nautical miles off the major shipping lane that connected the Caribbean, Latin America and the Southern United States to Europe, Kingston has always played a significant role in the maritime sector in the region. So attractive was it that it became the most significant port for the famous Buccaneers that prayed major port for famous home for housed. Today Kingston’s significant role in the transshipment business in the is based on its close proximity to the major markets of the east Coast of North America as well as its proximity to and the direct access by vessels transiting the Panama Canal. For these reasons KFFL was established as a transshipment hub to serve shipping lines transiting the Panama Canal and is seeking the most optimal point from which to operate. Currently KFTL accommodates approximately 35 vessels ranging in size from 800 teu feeder vessels to mother vessels carrying over 10,000 teu.
